RIDGE HOUSE IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH AN ARTIST TO DESIGN A MULTI-FUNCTIONAL RESIDENCE IN A FORMER INDUSTRIAL BUILDING. THE FIRST LEVEL SERVES AS THE ARTIST'S FRONT LIVING SPACE WITH A REAR PUBLIC GALLERY, WHILE THE BASEMENT IS DEDICATED TO A WORKSHOP. COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATIONS TO BOTH THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ARE MEANT TO ENHANCE THE DYNAMIC USE OF SITE.

THE CENTRAL CONCEPT IS TO ENSURE CONSISTENCY ACROSS THE VARIOUS UTILIZATIONS OF THE BUILDING, A HARMONY FOUND IN THE RESIDENT'S LIFESTYLE AND HIS PASSION FOR ART IN BOTH LEISURE AND WORK. RIDGE HOUSE WAS INTERESTED IN THE IDEA OF REEXAMINING CONTMEPORARY NOTIONS OF WHAT CONSTITUTES AN IMMERSIVE LIVE WORK CONDITION.

THE EXTERIOR BRICK ENVELOPE, WITH CONTINUOUS BAY LINTELS, IS RETAINED.  TALL CURTAINS ARE INTRODUCED TO ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILE SPATIAL DELINEATION AS WELL AS THERMAL AND ACOUSTIC REGULATORS.  UNUBSTRUCTED CEILING BEAMS AND AN OPEN FLOORPLAN FACILITATE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM HOME TO GALLERY. THE KITCHEN IS CRAFTED WITH A UNIQUE DESIGN THAT MIRRORS FURNITURE, SERVING AS A PLATFORM TO EQUALLY DISPLAY SCULPTURE. THIS APPROACH POSES A DISCUSSION ON RESIDENTIAL DESIGN AND A NON-DELIEATION BETWEEN LIVE AND WORK.
